IPC-A-600 Certified IPC Specialist(CIS)
The IPC-A-600 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) Training and Certification Course is a high-intensity two and a half-day course focused on the IPC-A-600 Standard document. It is designed to increase the skill and ability of an individual to distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable printed boards. Through this training, students learn to understand why a certain board should be accepted or rejected. The certified IPC specialist training enables professionals to gain the necessary knowledge and experience to properly assess printed boards according to IPC standards.
The training covers several topics including inspection criteria, damage definitions, condition definitions, solder joint criteria, surface finishes and surface mount technology. Participants will become qualified to identify defects in printed board assemblies such as insufficient solder coverage, improper component placement, surface finish contamination and more. The course also provides guidance for verifying process conformance and assessing product acceptability criteria.
At the end of the training, participants can take the IPC-A-600 certification exam which evaluates their proficiency in understanding and interpreting the IPC-A-600 standard document. With successful completion of the exam, participants receive an official certificate of training that serves as proof of their expertise in printed board assembly quality assurance.

IPC-A-600
Certification & Recertification :
After completing the Course, students will take open book written examinations. With successful completion of the exam, the students will be awarded an IPC-A-600 Certified IPC Specialist Certification, which is valid for two (2) years. For those who have previously completed their Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) certification in the last two years, they may opt to take a relevant recertification course or training to keep their certification valid.The training will focus on areas of improvement and updates over the previous two years, so that the individual can be up-to-date with the latest industry standards. Besides the classroom training, there are various self-learning resources such as video tutorials and webinars that can also be used to support their learning experience. Furthermore, after the completion of the training course, the student has to sit through another open book written examination in order to be eligible for recertification. All these steps ensure that a person receiving a CIS certification has gone through all the necessary training and is able to meet the industry standards for certification.
