IPC-A-610, also known as the "Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies," is a widely recognized standard for the inspection and acceptance of electronic assemblies. It provides industry-consensus guidelines and acceptance criteria for evaluating the quality and reliability of electronic assemblies.

The standard covers a wide range of electronic assembly types, including printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), cables and harnesses, and electromechanical assemblies.

RECERTIFICATION IPC-A-610 CERTIFIED IPC SPECIALIST (CIS)

The IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) Training and Certification Course is a high-intensity two day course focused on the IPC-A-610 Standard document. It is designed to increase the skill and ability of an individual to distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable printed boards. Through this training, students learn to understand why a certain board should be accepted or rejected. The certified IPC specialist training enables professionals to gain the necessary knowledge and experience to properly assess printed boards according to IPC standards.

The training covers several topics including inspection criteria, damage definitions, condition definitions, solder joint criteria, surface finishes and surface mount technology. Participants will become qualified to identify defects in printed board assemblies such as insufficient solder coverage, improper component placement, surface finish contamination and more. The course also provides guidance for verifying process conformance and assessing product acceptability criteria.

At the end of the training, participants can take the IPC-A-610 certification exam which evaluates their proficiency in understanding and interpreting the IPC-A-610 standard document. With successful completion of the exam, participants receive an official certificate of training that serves as proof of their expertise in printed board assembly quality assurance.

This training course provides valuable information and hands-on practice, which will help the individual hone their skills in this area. It is recommended that individuals renew their certificate regularly to ensure familiarity with the necessary protocols and practices. Taking a recertification Training Course is an important step towards maintaining the validity of your IPC-A-610 Specialist Certification. It is important to stay informed about the ever-changing standards in order to keep your certificate current and up to date.

Anyone who wishes to renew their IPC certificate and is currently designated as a Certified IPC Specialist with a valid certificate is eligible for the renewal process. Renewing your certification usually involves completing a training program and/or taking an exam based on the IPC standards. The training program is designed to ensure that the Certified IPC Specialist remains up-to-date on current standards and best practices.

This helps to ensure that the certified individual has the proper knowledge and understanding of these standards in order to effectively evaluate, select, install and maintain products made from IPC compliant materials.

Additionally, the training also provides an opportunity for certified individuals to learn about any new developments or changes to the IPC standards that may have occurred since their initial certification. By investing in continued training, a Certified IPC Specialist can remain up-to-date and continue to demonstrate a high level of professionalism in their work.

What is IPC-A-610
Training & Certifications?

It is used by organizations, manufacturers, and assemblers to ensure quality assurance and compliance with industry standards.

IPC-A-610 is an industry-standard document from the Institute for Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits (IPC). It provides criteria for the inspection, acceptance, and rework of electronic assemblies and components.

It covers all aspects of the assembly process, from design to soldering, and is accepted by the electronics industry worldwide.

The IPC-A-610 standard is a set of guidelines for the inspection and acceptance of electronic assemblies. It includes detailed criteria for the inspection and acceptance of components, assemblies, and finished products. It also includes detailed criteria for the rework and repair of assemblies and components.

Certification & Recertification :

After completing the Course, students will take open book written examinations. With successful completion of the exam, the students will be awarded an IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist Certification, which is valid for two (2) years. For those who have previously completed their Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) certification in the last two years, they may opt to take a relevant recertification course or training to keep their certification valid.

The training will focus on areas of improvement and updates over the previous two years, so that the individual can be up-to-date with the latest industry standards. Besides the classroom training, there are various self-learning resources such as video tutorials and webinars that can also be used to support their learning experience. Furthermore, after the completion of the training course, the student has to sit through another open book written examination in order to be eligible for recertification. All these steps ensure that a person receiving a CIS certification has gone through all the necessary training and is able to meet the industry standards for certification.
